Quake rocks Tunisia
Several people were injured when a house collapsed or they jumped out of windows when an earthquake hit the Tunisian town of Kairouan, 150 kilometers south of Tunis on Monday, witnesses told AFP.
Panic briefly took hold of town residents, who rushed out of their homes when the earthquake struck at about 2:20 am (local time), local people reached by telephone said.
The national meteorological office said the quake measured 4.6 on the Richter scale. Earthquakes are frequent in Tunisia, but usually lead neither to casualties nor to damage. (Albawaba.com)
