Family days on Thursdays and Fridays at the Doha Summer Fun Park
The Doha Summer Fun Park has attracted over 120,000 guests since its opening on July 20th 2010. The special Ramadan activities, planned by the organizing committee, are both unique and
exciting and have attracted many visitors. Family hours have been designated on Thursdays and Fridays.
Abdullah, from Qatar, has visited the Doha Summer Fun Park every weekend since its opening date with his wife and three children. "We have not had a chance to travel outside of Qatar this summer; therefore, the Doha Summer Fun Park has been somewhere to take our children during the weekend". He added, "Our children can play easily with their friends during the family hours arranged on Thursdays and Fridays." "There is an extensive variety of rides and activities, something for all the family, this event has made the summer holiday both lively and unforgettable" he stated.
There is a new theatre in the style of a traditional Qatari house with Liwan (courtyard) on which a Syrian band and Storytellers perform Arabic folklore. An official from Qatar Tourism Authority states, "There are many different theatre activities taking place on Thursdays and Fridays, attracting more visitors to the Doha Summer Fun Park." Ashur from Syria is in Doha on business and heard about the traditional Syrian band, and so decided to visit the Doha Summer Fun Park, "I very much enjoyed listening to the Syrian band and listening to the stories which were told." Ashur continued to talk about the variety of foods available, "I have enjoyed the local food being served in addition to the Qatari coffee and Ramadan sweets."
Ali, a visitor from Bahrain, arrived in Doha with his Family to enjoy the Doha Summer Fun Park. "I have visited a number of events similar, my family and I have enjoyed being here the most" he stated. "I think that the culture-rich entertainment is both educational and fun for the children. In addition, my children love the Tagadisco ride and the Crazy Wave ride. We will definitely be returning."
The Organizing Committee of the Doha Summer Fun Park has arranged a mid-Ramadan evening for Karankao, which will be supported by many charity organizations and social centers who will attend the celebration. Theatre activities will be taking place along with the gifts and prizes distribution for children. New shops will offer merchandise for Ramadan and Eid Al Fitr.
Organized by QTA and produced by SEQLIA Organizing & Building Exhibitions & Conferences Company, Doha Summer Fun Park is open to families and visitors from the GCC region. Doha Summer Fun Park welcomes fun-seekers from 8pm to 2am during Ramadan. Entry is free for all.
