Ras Al Hadd Tourist Festival Continues in Oman
Visitors of all nationalities thronged as Ras Al Hadd Tourism Festival continued in Oman, according to Oman Observer on Friday.
According to paper, more than 3,800 visitors packed the festival ground on Thursday to enjoy scintillating performances by Omani folklore troupes, complete in traditional garb and musical accompaniments.
The event offers something for people of all age groups in general and children in particular, said the organizers. Thousands of visitors watched performances by dancers and musicians, enjoyed camel racing, camel safaris, fishing contests, and still photo competition.
Others watched beach football, ball-shooting competition, mountain biking and horse shows. Football and volleyball competition in particular attracted a big crow, said the English daily.
The Ras Al Hadd Festival "has been receiving an overwhelming response from a cross section of visitors ever since its opening on Tuesday,” Muhammad Ali Said, Director General of Tourism, told the paper Thursday.
Asked about the profile of tourists, the official said they "are arriving from many towns in the vicinity of Ras Al Hadd, and from all over Oman. Moreover, Arab tourists from Saudi Arabia in general and the UAE in particular are pouring in every day." Expatriates based in Oman and the UAE have also embraced the festival in a big way.
