Rivaldo Wants to Stay at Barcelona
Barcelona's European footballer of the year Rivaldo said on Monday if it was up to him he would stay at the Catalonian club.
"If it depended on me, I would stay," Rivaldo told a press conference.
The talented Brazilian suffered friction with coach Louis Van Gaal but following his resignation he was free to continue his time there. President Josep Llius Nunez also resigned.
"We'll see if I appreciate the new coach and if he wants me to stay. Everything depends on the next coach and the next president.
"Those who left did not settle problems with my contract and I hope another person will come who will talk to me and take into account all that I have done for Barcelona."
Late in the same day, Lorenzo Serra Ferrer was named as Barcelona technical director and will act as a caretaker coach to the first team in place of Dutch coach Louis Van Gaal.
Serra Ferrer, formerly director of the training center, will be in charge of preparations for next season. He also once coached Real Betis and Mallorca.
Whether Serra Ferrer continues at the helm depends on the new club president who will be elected during the second half of July - -- BARCELONA (AFP)
