Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a market leader and award-winning innovator in consumer electronics, was the presenting sponsor for the Breast Cancer Foundation of Egypt's (BCFE) 2010 Egypt Race for the Cure®, which took place on Saturday, October 23, 2010 around the Pyramids of Giza. The BCFE partnered with the international organization, Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, which has been hosting similar races all over the world since 1983, and under the auspices of the First Lady of Egypt, Suzanne Mubarak, supported by Suzanne Mubarak's Women's International Peace Movement.

The Egypt Race for the Cure® was organized in an effort to raise awareness about a health issue that affects thousands of women in Egypt; and to educate women about how they can protect themselves against breast cancer. Mortality from the disease is high in Egypt because of late detection. More attention needs to be drawn to breast cancer in order to increase the public's understanding of the dangers of this disease. The race hoped to generate momentum in Egyptian society so that diagnosis and treatment improve, and so that survival increases. The event wass also a chance for everyone who has been affected by breast cancer to heal and to remember loved ones whom may have been lost to breast cancer.

"Samsung realizes the need for breast cancer awareness and early detection in Egypt and is honored to sponsor such a positive event at the last standing Ancient Wonders of the World, the Pyramids of Giza," commented Duke Park, General Manager of Samsung Egypt. "Samsung is a global brand with a global commitment to the communities in which it operates."

The Breast Cancer Foundation of Egypt (BCFE) is a non-governmental organization founded in 2003 and registered under the Ministry of Social Solidarity. Thanks to the support of the generous Egyptian business community, BCFE has been able to serve thousands of women in breast cancer early detection, awareness, care and support.

Susan G. Komen for the Cure is the world's largest breast cancer organization and the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer. The organization is a network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find cures. Komen for the Cure's philosophy is to listen, learn, share and support.
