SANYO's air purifier with electrolysed water technology delivers optimum protection against H1N1 viral strain
99.9% Suppression of 'swine flu' virus and all airborne bacteria and viruses by the use of electrolysed water technology of SANYO’s virus washer
SANYO, a leading company in providing energy, environment and lifestyle technologies, has launched in the Middle East the "SANYO Virus Washer", the world's first air purifier system that is powered by electrolysed water technology. SANYO further revealed that a joint research with Gunma Prefectural Institute of Public Health and Environmental Sciences, an advanced research institution recognised by the Japanese Government, showed that the SANYO Virus Washer technology is highly effective in suppressing the infectivity of the new H1N1 influenza virus.
Covering spaces up to 300 cubic metres, the SANYO Virus Washer has been developed to remove more than 99 per cent of airborne viruses as well as bacteria, mould, pollen, dust mite faeces and shells, while eliminating odours caused by tobacco and pets. SANYO's electrolysed water technology, works by electrolysing tap water containing chloride ions to generate and maintain a high concentration of hypochlorous acid and hydroxyl radicals, which are two different types of active oxygen species that destroy the spikes (viral protein) on the surface of viruses, effectively preventing infection.
Takeshi Hirao, (Vice President of Sanyo Electric Co, Japan) and Chairman of, SANYO Gulf FZE, said, "The emergence of the H1N1 viral strain across several countries has once again underscored the health risks we all face on a daily basis. With the launch of the SANYO Virus Washer, it is our vision to create a new layer of defence for ordinary people, especially children who are particularly prone to the new virus. A collaborative research with Gunma Prefectural Institute of Public Health and Environmental Sciences has already demonstrated scientifically that electrolysed water inactivates the new H1N1 influenza virus, making the Virus Washer an important tool in the fight against harmful airborne elements."
"SANYO's electrolysed water technology is actually a tried and tested system that has already been successfully implemented in SANYO's swimming pool sterilisation systems and in our zero-detergent washing machines. In line with SANYO's 'Think GAIA’ brand vision, it is our long-term commitment to pursue more research work and identify a broader spectrum of applications that will enable SANYO's electrolysed water technology to better protect the community from various health risks and help improve the quality of life," added Hirao.
SANYO's joint research activities with reputable institutions have revealed that SANYO's electrolysed water technology is able to remove more than 99 per cent of airborne viruses after one passage through the Virus Washer's disinfectant element, while more than 99.9 per cent of airborne bacteria are removed after five minutes. SANYO's air purifier solution also removes 99 per cent of airborne mould, 95 per cent of pollen, 99 per cent of dust mite faeces, and 97 per cent of dandruff from dogs and cats.
In addition to its powerful ability to disinfect, suppress viruses and deodorise, the SANYO Virus Washer also features a simple and easy-to-use control panel with an automatic drainage mechanism to easily dispose water in the drainage tank. The Virus Washer is also equipped with sensors and variable airflow controls to control humidity, a clog-resistant honeycomb as a disinfectant element, a Treated Air Volume indicator, an auto louver to adjust airflow direction and prevent dust intake, and a pre-filter device to increase the effectiveness against pollen.
SANYO's diverse range of products and services, which include consumer electronics, home appliances, photovoltaic systems, HVAC/R equipment, digital imaging devices, personal navigation systems, home appliances, and electronic components, among others, are divided into the three domains of energy, ecology and electronics. The company synergizes its core technologies to promote its unique “Think GAIA” brand vision of creating solutions for a sustainable earth and human health.
