Saudi Basic Industries Corp. (SABIC) Standardizes on Intergraph® SmartPlant® Enterprise

(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Saudi Basic Industries Corp. (SABIC) has decided to standardize on Intergraph® SmartPlant® Enterprise, including SmartPlant 3D and SmartPlant Foundation, as its engineering design and data management platform for all of its manufacturing affiliates.
SABIC is the largest and most profitable non-oil company in the Middle East and one of the world’s 10 largest petrochemicals manufacturers. Its products include chemicals, plastics, fertilizers and metals. SABIC will use the SmartPlant Enterprise to facilitate data handover from its engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractors to its affiliates’ plants and assist in every aspect of the plant life cycle. This includes design, procurement, construction, commissioning, operation, maintenance, expansions, retrofits and decommissioning, if applicable.
As the basis of the SABIC Technical Information Management System (STIMS) project, SABIC standardized on the SmartPlant Enterprise and will use the full portfolio of engineering design and data management solutions to create a truly integrated enterprise-wide design environment. Among the SABIC affiliates that have already begun implementation of SmartPlant Enterprise solutions are: Jubail United Petrochemical Co. (JUPC); Eastern Petrochemical Co. (SHARQ); YANBU Petrochemical complex (YANPET); YANBU National Petrochemical Co. (YANSAB) and Al-Jubail Fertilizer Co. (ALBAYRONI).
As the SABIC affiliates standardize on the SmartPlant Enterprise solutions, all deliverables from existing plant expansions as well as new plant construction will be in the same format, ensuring data compatibility through project sharing.
More than two-thirds of the world’s plants are built using Intergraph PP&M solutions. SmartPlant Enterprise offers EPCs and plant owner/operators a full enterprise solution that manages engineering design and data critical to physical plant assets and integrates engineering with other businesses and operational systems. It is a low-risk, scalable solution that increases productivity through work sharing and reducing plant design errors while improving project execution, handover, operational and maintenance efficiency over the plant life cycle.
