Saudi FM: Kingdom Convinced Bin Laden Involved in US Terror Attack

Saudi Foreign Minister Saud Al Faisal on Tuesday reiterated the kingdom's support for US efforts to bring Osama bin Laden to justice, adding that his country was convinced that the Saudi-born suspected terrorist took part in the September 11 attacks on US landmarks.
In an interview with Time magazine, cited by the official Kuwaiti news agency (KUNA), the minister said there was clear evidence linking bin Laden to the attacks, but declined to give further details on the nature of the evidence.
He indicated that the Taliban movement had rejected a Saudi demand to surrender bin Laden for trial in Saudi Arabia.
The prince also underlined the need to uproot the causes of terrorism, including the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and poverty.
He affirmed that the Saudi role in the fight against terrorism was confined to exchanging intelligence information, ruling out any participation by Saudi troops in the war.
The FM reiterated that the kingdom would not allow the use of its lands in attacks on any country, adding that “there is no real need for the United States to use the Prince Sultan airbase near Riyadh." – Albawaba.com
