Saudi king orders to compensate floods victims
Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah has ordered an immediate payment of SR1 million ($266,000) to the families of each person who died in last week’s flooding in the port city of Jeddah. The monarch also ordered the formation of a high-level committee to study the extent of the damage and recommend policies to ensure that it does not happen again, local newspapers reported on Tuesday.
It will be presided over by Prince Khalid bin Faisal who is the governor of the Mecca region that includes Jeddah.
At least 106 people died in the floods.
