Seven Hamas men die in Israeli airstrikes
Israel intensified its assassination attacks on Friday, killing seven members of the Palestinian Islamic resistance movement Hamas in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
Israel said the air strikes have come in response to an upsurge in Palestinian rocket and mortar attacks on Israeli targets.
In one airstrike, Israeli helicopter gunships fired missiles at a car carrying Hamas men near the West Bank town of Salfit, just west of the Ariel settlement. Three Hamas men were killed in this air strike, Palestinian sources said Friday.
One of the men killed has been identified as Hussam Fahmi. Israeli helicopters also fired missiles at a vehicle carrying Hamas men driving through the Tel Alhawa area of the central Gaza Strip, not far from the Jewish settlement of Netzarim. Four Palestinian were killed in this raid. They were identifies as Adel Muhammed Haniyyeh, 29, from Shati refugee camp, Asem Marwan Abu Ras, 23, Saber Abu Assi, 24 and Amjad Arafat.
