Six US troops killed in Baghdad and Mosul
A suicide car bombing attack and roadside bombings killed six US troops in Iraq, the U.S. command said Wednesday. One soldier died in an explosion about 4:50 a.m. Wednesday in western Baghdad, the U.S. command said.
The three other troops were killed in a roadside bomb attack on their convoy, the U.S. command said Wednesday. The attack happened at around 10 p.m. Tuesday in eastern Baghdad, a military statement said.
Elsewhere, a suicide car bomber activated his vehicle near a U.S. military convoy in the northern Iraq city of Mosul on Wednesday, killing two American soldiers and wounding five, a US military spokesman said, according to Reuters.
Meanwhile, an Iraqi group claimed it had beheaded a member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) it accused of being a spy working as a translator for the US army.
According to Reuters, the Army of Ansar al-Sunna said in a statement dated October 11 and posted on its website that it "enforced God's law by slaughtering the apostate" Luqman Hussein Mohammed whom it had abducted about a week earlier. (albawaba.com)
