SODIC presented the 2010 Egyptian Open Golf Tournament this past weekend at JW Marriott's Mirage City Golf Club. The tournament hosted players from Europe and the Middle East, including special guest, Rory McIlroy from Northern Ireland, who is currently ranked 9th in the world. Mark Tullo of Chile walked away the champion ahead of Scotland's Gregory Murray and Dutchman Floris de Vries. The tournament was organized by the Egyptian Golf Federation and held from October 19-23, 2010. The tournament festivities included a cocktail reception hosted by SODIC on Thursday, October 21 and a Putting Challenge on Friday, October 22, where Rory was in attendance to give out the awards. The Egyptian Open was first contested in 1921 and in recent years has become a part of The Challenge Tour, Europe's second tier men's golf tour.

Rory McIlroy joined the ranks of professional golfers in 2007 and has at the age of 21 already participated in eight major world tournaments, tying for 3rd at the 2010 PGA Championship, his third top-three finish in a major.

"SODIC is proud to present the Egyptian Open Tournament in an effort to not only support the growing interest in the game of golf in Egypt, but to promote international tourism through world-class sporting events," commented Youssef Hammad, SODIC's Chief Commercial Officer. "This is a great opportunity for Egypt to host one of the world's top golf professionals while increasing the level of competition and awareness of the sport in the country."

SODIC is one of Egypt's largest real estate development companies and is currently completing the first phase of Allegria, a residential neighborhood in Sixth of October, west of Cairo. Allegria features a Greg Norman designed, state of the art, 18-hole golf course, which is managed by Troon Golf, a top golf course management company based in the U.S.
