Stun Bomb Blast Reported Near Indian Consulate in Iran
A stun bomb exploded Thursday night near the Indian consulate in the southeastern Iranian city of Zahedan, but caused no casualties, the official Iranian news agency (IRNA) said on Saturday, quoting a local press report.
The daily Jam-e Jam quoted Zahedan's police chief as saying that the explosion partly destroyed the facade of the consulate and broke the windowpanes of the consulate and nearby buildings.
"No one has yet been arrested in connection with the bombing," he was quoted as saying.
Police have closed off the area around the consulate.
A reliable source was also quoted as saying that the explosion could be linked to Indian-Pakistani tensions.
