Successful Participation for inJAz Bahrain in Global Entrepreneurship Week 2010
inJAz Bahrain recently concluded its successful participation at Global Entrepreneurship Week 2010. During the week-long event which was organized by Young Arab Leaders, inJAz Bahrain arranged for entrepreneurs to visit school students as part of inJAz Bahrain's pioneering "The Company" program.
The non-profit organization, which relies solely on volunteers and strategic partners for support, invited numerous notable Bahraini entrepreneurs to visit schools across Bahrain and talk about their own experiences when starting their own business and discuss the various hardships they faced. In addition, students were given the opportunity to present their own budding business ideas and have them reviewed by the entrepreneurs. Participants included Ms. Nada Alawi Shubbar (OSHO Centre), Ms. Deena Al Ansari (The Mobile Spa), Mr. Abdulla Al Mannai (Tasty Fingers), Mrs. Deema Al Haddad (Deemz Jewellery), Ms. Aziza Salman (Paparazzi) and Mr. Hassan Haidar (Film 2 Go).
Participating students in "The Company" program, which has been offered by inJAz Bahrain since its inception five years ago, are tasked with setting up and running their own company. Activities include electing a board of directors from among their peers, raising share capital, marketing and financing a product or service of their choice, and finally liquidating the company and presenting a full company report and financial statements by the end of the school year.
Commenting on the event, inJAz Bahrain Executive Director Sheikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al Khalifa extended her thanks to all the volunteers and partners who contributed to the success of the event, adding that "inJAz Bahrain's long-term partnership with Young Arab Leaders which has had an immensely positive impact on the development of the next generation of young Bahrainis."
During the week-long event, which ran from Nov 21st to Nov 25th, students from inJAz Bahrain also participated in the "Mentorship Madness" dinner, "Start Up Circuit" and "60 Minutes with Dr. Naif Al Mutawa" where they had the chance to meet with the region's top entrepreneurs and learn from them in different ways.
inJAz Bahrain offers three main focus programs: entrepreneurship, financial literacy and work-readiness. To date, more than 18 thousand students have benefited from the 10 programs that fall under these three pillars. The programs are taught by hundreds of participating volunteers from the local business community, and seek to educate and inspire young people to value enterprise, business, and economics to improve the quality of their lives.
