Sudan to rebels: enter immediate cease-fire negotiations
The government in Sudan Sunday called upon Southern rebels to enter into immediate cease-fire negotiations.
"The government of Sudan is prepared to immediately negotiate cease-fire arrangements" with the Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA), Ghazi Salah Eddin Attabani, Sudan's presidential peace adviser, said in a statement faxed to The Associated Press in Cairo.
His call comes one day before U.S. envoy to Sudan John Danforth is due to meet with President George W. Bush to review a report compiled by Danforth, which outlines recommendations to end the civil war in southern Sudan. (Albawaba.com)
