suicide bomber central Baghdad
According to BNA, a suicide bomber detonated a minibus packed with explosives near a central Baghdad hotel today, killing at least five people and injuring 10.
The minibus exploded at dawn at a checkpoint near the Sadeer hotel which has housed American contractors and has been targeted for attack in the past. Witnesses said that the blast was followed by automatic weapons fire. The dead were believed to be security guards at the hotel. The bombing came a day after another suicide attack on a police station in the Iraqi capital that left at least 25 people dead and more than 30 hurt. The bomber in that attack blew himself up in an explosives-laden truck. On the same day, a high-ranking police official was also killed when attackers threw a grenade into the Interior Ministry compound.
