Syrian intelligence PR defects, according to reports

The head of public relations for the Syrian intelligence, Alaeddin al-Sabbagh, announced his defection to Al Jazeera on Sunday.

The PR official said he had been in contact with the rebels for some time and told the Qatar-based news network that Assad's regime was a "clinically dead" one. 

Al-Sabbagh also claimed he was serving the opposition while still working in government for the regime.
