Syria Releases Three Jordanian Prisoners
The Syrian authorities set free Saturday three Jordanian prisoners, one of whom is a woman, reported the Arabic daily Ad-Dustour, citing diplomatic sources in the Jordanian embassy in Damascus.
The three will be handed over to Jordan as soon as pre- deportation procedures are complete, the sources told the daily.
The sources, meanwhile, told the daily that the issue of prisoners in Syrian jails will be discussed soon between Jordanian and Syrian officials to put an end to this issue "once and for all" by releasing all Jordanian prisoners.
The sources added the embassy does not have official figures of the precise number of Jordanian prisoners, but according to figures released in 1998, there are 400 Jordanians held captive in Damascus -- Albawaba.com
