Syrian and Lebanese Prime Ministers Meet
Syrian Prime Minister Mohammed Miro left Beirut on Saturday with an accompanying delegation following discussions with his Lebanese counterpart Rafik al-Hariri and chairing his country's delegation in the joint Syria-Lebanese committee meeting.
According to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Miro and al-Hariri, chairmen of the Syrian-Lebanese economic-social committee, reviewed such issues as scheduling dues for the Lebanese electricity company after the Syrian power company relieved it of half of the sum (around $65 million dollars), reviewed prices of imported Syrian gas, the Lebanese-Syrian free trade zone and building several joint factories.
Furthermore, regarding a separate matter, the joint statement issued following the meetings, referred to the adherence of both Syria and Lebanon to the UN resolutions and to the Madrid conference decisions based on the land-for-peace principle as a solution for establishing peace throughout the region.
