Syrian President, Bahrain’s Emir Review Bilateral, Regional Ties
Syrian President Bashar Assad held bilateral and regional talks Monday in Manama with Bahrain's Emir Sheikh Hamad Al Khalifa, reported the Bahrain Tribune newspaper.
Assad arrived Monday in Manama on a two-day official visit.
Both leaders discussed the Bahraini-Syrian relations, the increase of trade exchanges and the strengthening of investment, said the Tribune.
They also discussed ways reviving the stumbling peace process between Israel and the Palestinians, and stressed the importance of Israel's compliance with the UN resolutions to reach a comprehensive and just peace.
Sheikh Hamad made an official visit to Damascus last October, one month after the prime ministers from both countries agreed to increase cooperation in all fields to be coordinated by a joint commission.
Meanwhile, the Saudi Al-Watan newspaper quoted Algerian sources as saying that Assad will pay an official visit to Algeria. The paper added the date of the visit will be decided after the meetings of the Arab summit due to be held in Amman in March.
Last month, Assad paid an official visit to UAE for enhancing bilateral ties. He also visited Iran for talks with President Mohammed Khatami. - Albawaba.com
