Syrian President, Sudan’s Vice President meet
Sudan’s Vice President Ali Othman Taha met on Monday with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to discuss regional developments as well as bilateral relations.
A presidential spokesman said the talks dealt with the events on the Arab level, in particular the occupied Palestinian lands and means of consolidating Arab solidarity for the sake of confronting dangers facing the Arab nation, according to KUNA.
The two sides also discussed meetings of the joint Sudanese-Syrian committee currently underway headed by both countries' Prime Ministers.
Al-Assad Monday endorsed an agreement over the establishment of the free trade zone between the two countries, which was signed earlier.
The supreme joint committee began its meetings in Damascus last Saturday and is expected to produce the signing of a number of agreements and memo of understandings in the economic areas, establishment of joint companies and the increase of volume of investments and power grid projects as well as cooperation in the oil sector.
