Syrian Prime Minister Visits Bahrain for Talks on Middle East, Economy
Syrian Prime Minister Mohammed Mustapha Miro visited Bahrain on Wednesday for talks on economic cooperation and efforts to advance the Middle East peace process, the official news agency GNA reported.
He was to meet his Bahraini counterpart, Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman al-Khalifa.
In January, the two states signed a security agreement to combat terrorism, and they both belong to a group of eight Arab nations which sided with a US-led coalition to evict Iraqi forces from Kuwait in the 1991 Gulf War.
The Arabic-language newspaper Al-Hayat has reported that Syrian President Bashar Assad will visit Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Egypt "in the next few weeks.” – MANAMA (AFP)
