Three Palestinians arrested as rocket attacks against Israel continue
Israeli troops arrested three Palestinians in an early morning raid on Monday in the West Bank. The raids, which took place in the southern West Bank towns of Dura, southeast of Hebron, and Beit Furik, south of Nablus, resulted in the arrest of two members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and one member of the Islamic Jihad faction.
Meanwhile, Israeli military sources reported that Palestinians had opened fire at Israeli troops outside of Jenin on Sunday night, according to Haaretz.
Rocket fire to continue from Gaza Strip
Also on Sunday, Israeli military sources reported that two Palestinian men were wounded in the Gaza Strip when they were mistakenly hit by Palestinian rocket fire aimed at Israel.
The Popular Resistance Committee, a Gaza-based militant group comprised of multiple Palestinian factions, announced on Sunday that it would continue its armed struggle against Israel by launching rocket attacks from the Gaza Strip on southern Israeli settlements, according to Palestinian news agency, Ma'an.
Some 40 Qassam rockets have been fired from the Gaza Strip toward Israel in the past two weeks, with the overall use of rocket attacks within Israeli territory rising sharply since the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.
A committee spokesman stated that the use of such rockets, though homemade and unsophisticated technologically, have been a thorn in the side of Israelis, and advanced the Palestinian cause. Israeli authorities have begged to differ, claiming that only a small number of rockets cause harm to Israel.
The same spokesman told reporters, "We are going to respond to every Israeli attack in order to show them that while our means are simple, our resolve is strong."
