Trial Date Postponed for Egyptian Accused in Montreal Bomb Scare

The Court of Quebec announced Monday that it had postponed to October 23rd the trial of Tarek Adealy Khafagy, one of two Egyptian men accused of threatening to bomb the Israeli consulate in Montreal. 

"The investigation has uncovered new facts in the Khafagy case and the defense needs time to prepare," said Crown prosecutor Helene di Salvo. 

On March 1st, the Consulate of Israel received an anonymous phone call threatening an attack unless Lebanese imprisoned in Israel were released. 

An investigation led police to the home of Khafagy, 30, where they reportedly discovered a small quantity of explosives. 

The trial of a second suspect -- 23-year-old Ayman Bondok, accused of making the threatening phone call -- will begin later Monday -- MONTREAL (AFP)
