Turkish police investigating suspected al-Qaida terrorists said they detained 16 people in raids in four provinces Tuesday.
Police units, after an 18-month long investigation by the Erzurum Prosecutor's office, raided locations in Erzincan, Konya, Diyarbakir and Istanbul provinces.
Police have intensified their search for al-Qaida operatives in Turkey in recent months, with several people linked to al-Qaida operations in Syria and Afghanistan arrested in October, Today's Zaman reported Tuesday.
