Suicide bomb at U.S. embassy in Turkey kills 2
A suicide bomber killed two people and several other people were killed on Friday at the entrance of the U.S. embassy in Ankara, Turkey, AFP reported.
Nearby buildings were damaged in the blast in the upmarket Cankaya district of the capital.
"There were two dead in the suicide bombing, a Turkish security guard and the bomber himself," Ankara governor Alaattin Yuksel told reporters.
The bomber is believed to have been a member of an illegal organization, according to the Turkish interior ministry.
"There are initial findings that the suicide bomber was a militant of a banned leftist organisation," Muammer Guler told AFP. "His fingerprints are being examined right now."
US Ambassador Francis Ricciardone confirmed the death of the guard and said the U.S would continue to work with Turkey to combat terrorism.
