UAE Praises Lebanese Resistance
Emirati defense minister Mohammed bin Rashed al-Maktoum, praised Monday the Lebanese resistance for ousting Israeli occupation forces, but said peace remained incomplete without the return of all occupied Arab land, reported the Daily Star.
The minister, heading a delegation of ministers and members of parliament, arrived Monday in Lebanon, where he held talks with Lebanese president Emile Lahoud, parliament speaker Nabih Berri, prime minister Salim Hoss and former prime minister Rafik Hariri.
He told reporters that the delegation would visit the liberated areas in the South on Tuesday and determine ways in which the UAE could help, the daily added.
He hailed the "sacrifices of the martyrs, the suffering of the women who lost their husbands or sons for the cause, and the steadfastness of the people who survived Israel's aggression."
He was quoted as saying that "peace will not prevail in the region unless Jerusalem is handed back to the Arabs, Israel withdraws from the Golan, and Palestinians practice their rights in their homeland and the refugees return to their homes." – Albawaba.com
