United Development bags Qatar Today’s Green Award, Again
On behalf of United Development Company (UDC), master-developer of The Pearl-Qatar, it was UDC’s Technical Director Jerry Jackson to accept the recognition as part of the Qatar Today Green Awards, celebrated at The Four Seasons Hotel last Saturday. The award this year saw UDC as joint winner, together with Aecom “The strong showing by Qatari organizations at these awards provides proof that local organizations are forging ahead with greener environmental practices. For our part, UDC works very hard to ensure our environmental practices meet and, where possible, exceed best international practices. Our environmental policies and procedures are aimed at creating environmental best practice not only in our operational activities but right across the entire spectrum of our business.” Mr. Jackson explained. “This extends to leading the way in helping to raise awareness of sustainable environmental practices among our contractors and suppliers for The Pearl-Qatar and beyond,” he added. With growing success and positive impact, UDC’s Environmental Affairs Department exercises two different programs. The Technical Program covers the implementation of modern, environment-conscious policies, procedures and regulations, as well as the extensive monitoring activities for The Pearl-Qatar. The Awareness Program covers efforts and activities to help staff, contractors and the wider public develop the knowledge on how they can be more environmentally conscious.
