UNWRA: 70% of Palestinians live below poverty line
According to a study by UNWRA, the United Nations branch, which deals with refugees, 70 percent of the Palestinians in the territories live under the poverty line, earning less than NIS (New Israeli Sheqel) 1,600 per month for a family of six people.
According to the study, 220,000 Palestinian families are receiving grocery assistance from UNWRA, as opposed to the 11,000 families before the onset of the Intifada or uprising.
Additionally, the study showed that 22% of Palestinian children are malnourished, the report added. (Albawaba.com)
