American congressional envoy John Cox resumed his good will tour in Sudan aimed to gather information about Sudan for a report he will submit to the US administration as Sudan and the US experience a thaw in their relations, reported the Kuwaiti official news agency (KUNA).
Cox started his visit Thursday by meeting with a number of Sudanese officials in Khartoum, including the first deputy of the president Ali Taha, the foreign minister Mustafa Ismail, house speaker Angelo Bida, and the opposition leader Ali Mahmoud Hassanain, said the agency.
The congressman said that his visit aims at getting a first-hand look at the political situation in Sudan so that the US administration can formulate a well-informed policy toward Sudan, now that the US has decided to renew its ties with it.
