Abu Dhabi, 10 Ramadan 1427 A.H. (October 2, 2006) –This year, Internet users are tuning into the Dubai International Holy Quran Awards (DIHQA) by visiting Weyak’s Ramdaniyaat channel, http://ramadan.weyak.ae. Weyak is the web-caster of this annual event and the entire competition is being broadcast from the Ramdaniyaat channel in real time. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Awards, which are held under the patronage of UAE Vice President and Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. This prestigious event ends on day 20.
“We are delighted to be able to support the Dubai International Holy Quran Awards and also to celebrate individuals who provide great inspiration for all Muslims,” said Essa Al Haddad, chief marketing officer at etisalat. “This is a noble event and we are proud to provide our customers both a rich experience and the opportunity to participate wherever they may be travelling in the UAE or around the world.”
The objectives of the DIHQA include providing motivation to young Muslims to abide by the teachings of Islam and to recognize their duties towards their faith and Islamic mission. This is achieved through hosting a competition in the field of memorizing and reciting the Holy Quran and through honouring personalities or institutions that have provided outstanding services to Islam and Muslims. Ultimately, the Award endeavours to be a leading and outstanding international forum promoting scholarship and honouring all those who work in this field.
“We welcome etisalat’s participation in this year’s award ceremony. Weyak and its Ramdaniyaat channel will bring our event to a global audience providing inspiration and knowledge to all Muslims. We thank the team at Weyak for their support of our event and look forward to a successful competition,” said Ahmed Al Zahed, Member of the Organizing Committee and Head of Media Unit for DIHQA.
The DIHQA ceremony takes place daily until Day 20 of Ramadan and is streamed from http://ramadan.weyak.ae.
