Building bridges with other education-related forums; The WISE Awards; A series of educational documentaries in partnership with Euronews; and the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) in Doha, Qatar, 7-9 December 2010

Doha, Qatar, 26 September 2010: Since its inauguration in 2009, the World Innovation Summit for Education – WISE – has been expanding dialogue among educational stakeholders and reaching beyond the traditional circles of the academic community to share ideas, mobilise people and implement specific initiatives. WISE is committed to pursuing this mission on a long-term basis.

Creating new synergies since WISE 2009: Participating in and contributing to the educational community

WISE has been creating new synergies around the world, putting words into action and giving fresh momentum to the global debate on education. For example, WISE has been following up on the 10 Strategic Priorities for global education that emerged from the last Summit by taking part in education-related forums throughout the world:

April 2010. WISE Strategic Priority No. 6 "Extending Dialogue on Reconciliation": WISE interviewed key opinion-leaders on this subject at the Conference of Executive Heads, held by the Association of Commonwealth Universities in Cape Town.
June 2010. WISE organised a debate on "The influence of the media and their potential contribution to learning creative skills " at the World Summit on Media for Children and Youth in Karlstad, Sweden. This was linked to WISE Strategic Priority No. 8, "Innovating new ways to learn".
On 21 and 22 September 2010, Chairman of WISE Dr Abdulla bin Ali Al-Thani, alongside Qatar's Minister of Education, is joining forces with The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organisation – ALECSO, the World Bank and Qatar Foundation for The Ministerial Colloquium on Quality of Education in the Arab World in Doha, Qatar. This is linked to WISE Strategic Priority No. 1, "Access to quality education".
WISE newsflash: Continuing the year-round activities of WISE on the international scene

September 2010: Euronews, in partnership with WISE, launches Learning World, a weekly magazine on education;
October 2010: Inauguration of the first Institute for Education Leadership;
