World Bank Approves $75m Credit for Yemen
The World Bank has approved a 75 million dollar credit for Yemen to support a project aimed at improving social services and job prospects for the poor, the bank said in a statement Wednesday.
The effort would create temporary and permanent employment, improve water supplies and provide access to finance and education, according to a bank statement.
The overall cost of the project is 175 million dollars, with the bank contribution augmented by financing from the Yemeni government, the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, the European Union, the governments of the United States and the Netherlands, the Islamic Development Bank and the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries -- WASHINGTON (AFP)
