Anti-Smoking Awareness Campaign at Porto Arabia’s Boardwalk, La Croisette
As Doha residents are hitting the outdoors during the cooler winter months, enjoying blue skies and beautiful weather, Porto Arabia’s boardwalk ‘La Croisette’, is becoming a popular destination not just for leisurely walks, but also for a number of community activities and initiatives.
Most recently, American Express Middle East hosted a campaign on La Croisette to engage the larger Doha community in its efforts to raise awareness about the negative effects of smoking.
Twenty-five American Express employees participated in the campaign and, brandishing T-shirts and caps with Supreme Council of Health and American Exchange logos, they caught the attention of passers-by who were given an opportunity to do CO2 testing.
More people - including residents of The Pearl-Qatar and United Development Company (UDC) employees - were drawn to and joined the American Express group, who then walked along the boardwalk handing out flyers about the negative effects of smoking.
“La Croisette is becoming more than a place to stroll and shop. We are pleased to support organizations as they endeavor to build the community and awareness about issues important to them,” said an official from The Pearl-Qatar.
“The Pearl-Qatar is a destination and a city and with it comes a vibrant community. This is a natural process”, he added.
In earlier months, The Pearl-Qatar hosted the International Bank of Qatar’s Artist Series at La Croissette and the International Ladies’ Potluck Group Christmas brunch at the Oyster to name a few.
