Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority has scheduled several inspection campaigns for the year 2011, all aiming towards awareness, advising and guiding owners of food establishments and employees without implementing any penalties
Field Operations Department at Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) has carried out a penalty-free food inspection campaign in the Western Region. Not involving any kind of violations, warnings or closures, the campaign aimed to raise awareness and giving advice and guidance to the owners of food establishments as well as employees.
The campaign comes in line with ADFCA’s strategy to face to face communicate with the owners of food establishments, who are seen as strategic partners of ADFCA. The inspection campaigns covered 40 food establishments in Madinat Zayed - Western Region, including 8 restaurants, 7 cafeterias, 4 Hypermarkets, 6 grocery shops, 12 shops for poultry, meat and fish, and 3 bakeries.
One of the key objectives of this campaign is to raise awareness amongst food suppliers on all stages of handling food such as storage, preparation, processing, cooking, conservation in addition to raising awareness on the possibility of cross contamination of food within the facility. ADFCA aims to achieve that via providing advice and guidance on food safety, emphasizing the importance of the training programme and its role in upgrading the level of the staff.

ADFCA is working towards cementing it communications channels with stakeholders by promoting trust highlighting the negative practices of workers whist working to implement rule NO.6 of 2010 on health and food safety at all stages of the food chain.
However, the inspection campaigns held by ADFCA does not ignore the serious irregularities relating to food, which is noted even during this campaign, and therefore, if any serious irregularities, penalties will be implemented.
