Al Bustan Centre and Residence, the deluxe hotel apartments which offer world class services and facilities in the heart of Dubai, has recently organised a one-day “No Smoking” event to support the “Dubai without Smoking” initiative of the Dubai Municipality’s Department of Public Health and Safety and spread awareness about the dangers of cigarette smoking and tobacco consumption.
Held under the property’s Responsible Awareness Program (RAP), hotel staff, residents, guests were invited to listen to a presentation conducted by inspectors from the Dubai Municipality’s Department of Public Health and Safety headed by Engr. Reda Salman and Engr. Sultan Al Suwaidi. The presentation focused on smoking including health and safety awareness, violations and implementation of the law. It also tackled the importance of clean air and green building.
Moussa El Hayek, Chief Operating Officer Al Bustan Centre & Residence, said: “Al Bustan Centre is proud to support the initiative of the Dubai Municipality by spreading awareness about the dangers of tobacco consumption. Cigarette smoking and the use of tobacco have harmful effects and it led to millions of deaths worldwide so we must inform the public about the dangers and stress the importance of healthy lifestyle. We hope that this activity in some way help and encourage smokers to quit smoking.”
The Dubai Municipality handed out t-shirts, stickers and brochures on cigarette smoking and how it affects different organs of the human being. Information about providing treatments to smokers was also distributed during the event.
Al Bustan Centre is working closely with the government of Dubai on a range of activities and programmes to have a positive impact on the city’s environment. The property’s RAP Committee is responsible for initiating awareness activities aimed at protecting the environment.
