After CBS blames Israelis for the exodus of Christians, one Orthodox Jew calls it a ruse, others call it truths, and a Palestinian Christian keeps the blame squarely on the Jews.
60 Minutes' Christians of the Holy Land: Yes, it's a hatchet job
Carl is an Orthodox Jew - some would even call him an 'ultra-Orthodox' born in Boston but living now in Jerusalem.
After the 60 Minutes look at Christians in the Holy Land, he finds " it astounding that the segment criticizes Israel while letting the 'Palestinian' Muslims off the hook. Bethlehem was a Christian town until the 'Palestinian Authority' took over in 1994. And yet, the only hint that Muslims might have something to do with Christians leaving is 'Michael Oren says.'"
This group has a different take on the '60 Minutes' segment i.e. the completely opposite reaction. They are wanting to get over 35,000 signatures on a petition thanks CBS for the show.
"On April 22, Bob Simon and the US news show "60 Minutes" shared the painful truth with 13 million viewers — the primary cause for the exodus of Palestinian Christians from the Holy Land is the nearly 45 year-old illegal Israeli occupation. Now "60 Minutes" is being attacked for telling the truth. "
"Now, I have a lot of issues with Mr. Oren’s pathetic attempt to explain the so-called “plight of Christians” in Palestine mainly because I am a Christian and I am a Palestinian, and I happen to live in the West Bank.
I’ve worked closely with both Christian and Muslim communities in most areas of the West Bank and Gaza Strip and can tell you with absolute certainty that the Christian Palestinians are not suffering due to the actions of Muslim Palestinians."
