The Egyptian Public Business Ministry recently stated that cement prices are currently stable, reported Al-Hayat daily. The price of one ton of cement stands at 192 Egyptian pounds ($49), considered quite fair for local consumers.
Price stability is expected to be maintained throughout the next four years, considering an increase in the cement supply is anticipated.
Adding to the positive atmosphere in the construction industry are reported plans to expand a number of existing cement factories, with several new ones expected to be constructed as well in the future.
Cement consumption in Egypt equaled 26.8 million tons in 2000, 24.4 million tons of which were produced locally, while 2.4 million tons were imported from abroad. ― (MENA Report)
