The overall Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the Palestinian Territory [2] during September 2012 increased by 1.42% compared to August 2012, according to Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) press release on Sunday.
It said that the CPI during September 2012 increased by 4.06% compared to September 2011; 6.48% in the West Bank, 4.54% in Jerusalem, and 1.25% in Gaza Strip.
During the first nine months of 2012, CPI increased by 2.92% compared to the same period of the previous year; 4.13% in the West Bank, 3.14% in Jerusalem, and 0.59% in Gaza Strip.
The change in CPI for September 2012 is traced back to changes in prices [3] of the expenditure sub groups compared to the previous month, such as fresh vegetables which increased by 15.49%, eggs by 13.36% and fresh poultry by 2.49%.
