US move to halt banking deals of Bank Saderat (Export) of Iran with American financial system is a mistake, said Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi on Sunday. He was commenting on a recent report by some media outlets that Washington has stopped all banking deals of Iran's Bank Saderat in the US.
Addressing the domestic and foreign reporters at his weekly press briefing, Asefi said that Washington has proved that it would use all means to advance its wrong policies.
The US Treasury Department said Friday the bank was used to transfer funds to "terrorist" groups like Lebanon-based Hizbullah.
Bank Saderat was established in 1952 with the main objective to provide efficient and modern banking services. Since the inception, the Bank has expanded its network and established about 3400 branches in Iran and abroad. With over 32000 employees, the Bank has one of the largest banking networks in Iran.
