The Jordan Telecom Group on Tuesday said most of its Internet, fixed line and mobile phone services were restored following cuts in more than 60 cables of its fibre optic network. 
The company’s technical teams were working around-the-clock to fix the network and to fully restore all services throughout the Kingdom after cable cuts in three different locations late Sunday, Jean-Francois Thomas, CEO of the group, also known as Orange Jordan, said in a statement sent to The Jordan Times.
He added that the “situation was caused by external factors that are beyond our control”.
On Monday, Orange Jordan said over 40 cables in the capital’s Tlaa Al Ali area were cut on Sunday, causing major disruption to Internet services.
Major businesses, including travel agencies, Royal Jordanian and several local banks were almost brought to a complete standstill on Monday due to the disruptions.
Internet users on Tuesday voiced dismay that the service was not fully restored, while others called for a radical solution to Internet disruptions.
“Monday was terrible. I couldn’t complete some research that our professor at university had asked for,” Ehab Diab, an IT student, said.
“I waited from Monday morning until the evening hoping the Internet connection would be back, but at around 8:00pm I had to go to an Internet café to complete my research,” added Diab.
Tahani Samer, a Tawjihi student, also complained about not being able to complete her homework due to the Internet cut.
“I waited all day Monday... but to no avail,” the Hashemi area resident told The Jordan Times.
