Lebanese trade deficit up in December 2000

The High Customs Council revealed that Lebanon’s trade deficit increased in December from the previous month by 27.4 percent to $530 million.

For the whole of 2000, the trade deficit was 0.27 percent narrower than for the equivalent period in 1999, at $5.51 billion.

Exports for the whole of 2000 amounted to $713 million, up 5.16 percent on 1999, while imports for 2000 were $6.23 billion compared to $6.21 billion a year earlier. — (Banque du Liban et d'Outre-Mer Sal [1])
