Trading was thin in the Palestinian stock exchange on Monday, May 28, with only six shares traded. The al-Quds index rose 1.11 points—0.66 percent—to close at 170.47.
Palestine Telecommunication Co. was the only share that ended higher, having risen 3.02 percent to close at 2.73 Jordanian dinars. Four of the six traded stocks slid, and one remained unchanged. Total trading volume amounted to 36,380 shares worth 33,304 Jordanian dinars.
Palestine Development and Investment Co. was hardest hit, ending 2 percent lower at $0.98.
Trading in the Palestinian exchange takes place either in U.S. dollars or in Jordanian dinars since there is no Palestinian currency. The exchange rate presently stands at 0.709 dinars to the dollar. —(MENA Report)
