The Norwegian government has promised to provide further economic aid to Sudan when a peace treaty has been signed in the country, according to Vaard Land.
The newspaper reported that Norway’s Development Minister Hilde Frafjord is ready to grant at least another 300 million Norwegian krone ($43 million) for refugee repatriation and mine clearing.
The 20-year civil war in Sudan has been fought between the Islamist, northern-based Arab-speaking government and the vast marginalized African populations of southern Sudan, where the Sudan People's Liberation Movement/Army (SPLM/A) has been the largest rebel group.
