A senior Yemeni official was recently quoted in Al-Hayat newspaper, revealing that the Norwegian Oil Company (D.N.O) will begin producing oil from Section no. 23 in the Yemeni district of Hadramout in November.
The Norwegian firm will initially produce 8,000 barrels a day, however, this amount is expected to reach 25,000 barrels a day, following the completion of several development operations.
The total production of oil in Yemen currently amounts to 400,000 barrels per day and is planned to reach 450,000 barrels per day by the end of 2000. The Yemeni government anticipates oil revenues of $1.4 billion this year. –(Albawaba-MEBG)
