To celebrate its 100th anniversary, Chevrolet presented the Centennial Award for the Best Chevrolet on Show at the Emirates Classic Car Festival (ECCF), which was held in Downtown Dubai from December 1-3, 2011.
The Centennial Award went to the 1959 Chevrolet Corvette, owned by the Attar Family from Dubai.
The Centennial Award for the Best Chevrolet on Show formed part of Chevrolet’s sponsorship of the Festival and was a tribute to a century of iconic Chevrolet designs. Chevrolet was founded by racing pioneer Louis Chevrolet 100 years ago and commemorated its centennial on November 3, 2011.
“Over the past 100 years, Chevrolet has been responsible for some of the most significant and groundbreaking designs in automotive history [2]. The bowtie logo has adorned some of the most iconic shapes in motoring and it was great to see many of these classic Chevrolets on show at the Emirates Classic Car Festival,” said Fadi Ghosn, Chief Marketing Officer of General Motors Middle East.
Located on Emaar Boulevard in Downtown Dubai and overlooking Burj Khalifa, the ECCF showcased a range of classic cars, including a number of vintage Chevrolets, and was visited by thousands of classic car enthusiasts from the UAE and across the Middle East.
The Emirates Classic Car Festival is organized by Emaar Properties in association with the UAE Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development; the Automobile & Touring Club of the United Arab Emirates (ATCUAE) - the official representative of FIVA; and the 'Fédération Internationale des Véhicules Anciens' - the world-wide authority for historic vehicles.
