Plans to celebrate the UAE’s 40th National Day at Abu Dhabi University include a unique series of cultural and heritage activities that highlight the country’s achievements, and promote the importance of community cohesion and multiculturalism.
Organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Affairs, Abu Dhabi Police (GHQ) and Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage, the National Day festivities kick off next Sunday (27th November) and will continue throughout the week, offering students and visitors alike the chance to enjoy folkloric dances, poetry recitals, car decoration competitions, cultural art exhibitions and an interactive kids corner.
Dr. Nabil Ibrahim, Chancellor of Abu Dhabi University emphasized that this year’s celebration is very special, as it commemorates the nation’s landmark 40th National Day. “It’s a milestone that encourages us to pause and admire the rapid growth, prosperity and development that the country has achieved on many levels in such a short time, making it a role model around the world”, said Dr. Nabil. He pointed out that ADU’s celebrations this year have adopted the slogan “Investing in people...Empowering Communities”, and will focus on the importance of community cohesion, and coexistence and dialoguing with different peoples and cultures.
Dr. Ibrahim explained that the week of celebrations includes folkloric musical performances by Zayed Childhood Theatre, a personal development seminar organized by the International Performance Excellence Foundation and Dubai Drums, and a music operetta performed by school students.
He added that the university will also host at the festivities several associations such as Emirates Autism Center, Gulf Autism Centre, Center of Special Needs Development, Al Ain Folkloric Arts Center, Egyptian Ladies Cooperation, Sudanese Ladies Club, Jordanian Ladies Club and Indian Ladies Club.
