The Higher Colleges of Technology - Dubai Women’s College held recently its 2nd annual Technology Week with the aimed of introducing students and staff to technology that is new, interesting, educational and full of fun!
The schedule for the week included demonstrations and seminars on 3D multimedia, virtual computing, the Cloud, IBM’s Watson super computer, Microsoft’s classroom innovation tools, DWC IT graduate projects, Twitter and the Android store, as well as a talk on research presented in the book The Shallows: What the Internet is Doing to Our Brains. There were also a number of interactive activities: an IT Challenge, Freestyle Chess, Kinect games, daily SMS poll and a QR code “scavenger hunt”.
Jamie Stewart, Dean of the Business and Technology Division said “Technology Week is designed to showcase some of the newest and most interesting technologies that touch our academic disciplines, our classrooms, and our lives. I enjoy seeing the enthusiastic reaction from students when they experience these technologies for the first time.”
In addition to that, representatives from Ford Middle East presented “Ford Technology: Revolutionizing the way you interact with your vehicle”. Among other exciting new features, attendees witnessed Ford’s exclusive ultrasonic-based sensing system and electric power-assisted steering which allows user to parallel park the car at the push of a button!
