We welcome the opportunity to provide a forum to help educate the community about such an important topic. Spreading more awareness about early detection and promoting the topic of breast cancer prevention is a cause very close to our hearts and we are keen to offer this occasion to empower and educate women about the disease and build the knowledge, tools and resources needed to lead the fight against breast cancer in their own communities.”
During the event, Dr. Ghanoom spoke about the risk factors associated with the disease. The lecture touched on important points such as the role of nutrition and exercise in preventing the disease and how early detection helps increase the rate of survival. Information pamphlets were also distributed to all attendees. Moreover during the event, clinical exams for members and employees took place at Dubai Ladies Club and some ladies also received passes for mammogram screenings free of charge.
On his part, Mohammed Abdallah Al Haj Alzarooni, Director of Red Crescent branch in Dubai commented on the importance of organising women’s health awareness programs in an effort to safeguard the health and wellbeing of our communities. He also stressed on the important role that breast cancer awareness talks can play in the early detection of breast cancer in women, especially since the most recent official reports and surveys indicate a very high incidence of the disease among women in the UAE.
He said, “UAE Red Crescent periodically organises health and wellbeing awareness campaigns, in an effort to highlight important health-related topics and statistics particularly in relation to women and children. Moreover, role of the Red Crescent goes beyond providing counselling and awareness about such topics. Today we also provide treatment for crucial cases of patents from underprivileged, low-income families, who might not be able to afford treatment otherwise.”
Dubai Ladies Club consistently organizes exclusive programs and activities in various fields of sports, art, social and cultural rights, as part of its commitment to develop the potential and capacity of women, enabling them to actively participate whilst encouraging continuous development.
