Emirates General Petroleum Corporation "Emarat" organized a blood donation campaign among its employees in aid of Thalassemia patients. The campaign was held at the Corporation's quarters in Dubai, and it was in response to the appeal of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai and His Highness' humane initiative to donate blood, in cooperation with the blood transfer vehicle belonging to Dubai's Blood Donation Center at Latifa Hospital.
Mr. Hussain Kazim, Manager, Corporate Communications at Emarat, said that the Corporation is always keen to participate in such humanitarian and social national initiatives which reflect the essence of the UAE's government and people, and its endeavor to support blood transfer program in the UAE and the provision of sufficient quantities of blood to the hospitals, and especially to kids with Thalassemia, who need constant blood transfer.
Mr. Kazim further added that Emarat's participation embodies the Corporation's strategic goals aiming to serve the community through raising health awareness in the society in general, and among Emarat's employees in specific. The Corporation's goals are manifested through the provision of aid and the organization of humanitarian initiatives that help enhance the importance social solidarity and the spirit of social responsibility and human values.
A large number of Emarat's employees took part in the campaign. Pamphlets and other publications related to the campaign were distributed to encourage blood donation. Prior to the campaign, a lecture was held to discuss the benefits of blood donation. The lecture, which was attended by a large number of Emarat's employees, was conducted by Reem Khamis Al Suwaidi, who is a researcher at Dubai Blood Donation Center.
